Each Friday during June and July Chapman BMW employees will be cruising around town in a brand new BMW convertible – and they want their Facebook fans to join them.  While a lot of businesses have Facebook pages, few offer substantial benefits for those who ‘like’ their page. Chapman BMW is changing that. The Phoenix BMW dealership’s Facebook fans are invited to participate in the summer tour that presents one lucky winner with a staycation package valued at over $1,000.

“Our new social media campaign is a great way to thank our current clients for their patronage and welcome new fans. The Top Down Tour is unlike anything we’ve ever done before and we’re excited to reach BMW Phoenix enthusiasts in a completely new way outside of the physical dealership. We are proud to be part of a new era in advertising in which our campaign is solely based on new media,” says Chapman BMW General Manager Randy Scott.

The Chapman BMW Top Down Tour will have a stop every Friday starting June 1st through July 27th at local restaurants, golf courses, amusement parks and more around the East Valley and surrounding areas. At each tour stop there will be timeless childhood games that adults will appreciate such as Cornhole, Twister, and Super Soakers, plus great prizes such as Arizona Diamondback tickets, complimentary lunch and drink passes, free golf packages and more. At the culmination of the Tour on July 27, one lucky Chapman BMW Facebook fan will win the coveted prize: a Summer Survival Kit worth over $1,000 that includes an Arizona Grand Resort Staycation Package, a gas gift card, BMW swag, and a Jimmy and Joe’s Pizzeria gift card.  

At each tour stop, fans can experience all that the 3-Series Convertible has to offer and discuss the vehicles with on-site BMW experts in a pressure-free environment. The featured convertibles on site will include the award-winning BMW 328i and/or 335i. Both are perfect for anytime of the year, because they feature a retractable roof that opens in 22 seconds and closes in 23 seconds. 

The 328i convertible has a powerful 3.0-liter inline-six cylinder engine that produces 230 hp and 200 lb-ft of torque that zips and winds on any road with ease. The 335i has an invigorating turbocharged six-cylinder, newly updated, N55 engine. The N55 engine features BMWs Valvetronic variable valve timing and lift system that creates 300-hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. Both of the 3-series convertibles have BMW’s optional iDrive technology and the option of either a manual or automatic transmission, which allows the car to effortlessly accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in a quick 5.3 seconds. By ‘liking’ the application, fans not only get exclusive information on where the tour’s next stop is, but they will also be automatically entered into the Grand Prize drawing for the Summer Survival Kit. WHAT:
Chapman BMW dealer and Clark Burckle invite local residents to show their support for Team USA in BMW’s Drive for Team USA event. For every participant who test drives a vehicle at the event, BMW of North America will donate $10 to Team USA up to $200,000.

Attendees will have the opportunity to test drive five different BMW 3 Series models and get behind the wheel of competitive vehicles. Test drives of additional 2012 BMW models and pre-owned BMW models will also be available.

BACKGROUND:
BMW Group is the proud Official Mobility Partner of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC). In the lead up to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, BMW has provided its resources and technologies to help advance the training and performance goals of the Olympic and Paralympic athletes of Team USA.

Clark Burckle was born in Louisville, KY on February 23, 1988. He attended and swam at both University of Florida and University of Arizona. At the 2011 World University Games he finished eighth in the 200m breast. At the 2011 ConcoPhillips National Championships he placed third in the 200m breast and 200m IM. He also placed fifth in the 200m breast and seventh in the 400m IM at the 2008 Olympic Trials. He made the 2008 National A Team.

 

The BMW X1 was released in Europe back in 2009 but with doubts of if there was a market in the U.S, BMW held off on bringing it here, until now. With gas prices on the rise and the U.S market begging for more downsized vehicles, the smallest member of the X series is here.

The X1 is just 4.5 inches smaller than the X3, which prior to the release of the X1 was the smallest BMW crossover on the market. Actually, when you see both on the street they look very similar. The X1s shape is generally the same as the European version but with little tweaks such as a more aggressive front fascia and bumpers. The design is sporty and features the dual-circle headlights and LED running lights, which are optional in the Xenon light package. There will also be more paint color options available as well.

Inside the X1 it is as upscale as ever with the use of chrome and leather. The control display, headlight switch and side edging are all chrome. The air vents are a high-gloss black which also add to the overall look of luxury. As Phoenix BMW drivers would expect, the latest iDrive infotainment system will be available and an array of advanced active safety features. There is also expected to be a built-in suite of airbags, electronic driver aids, and structural integrity to help it score well in crash testing.

There are two engine choices: a 240-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder or a 300-horsepower 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder. The four cylinder option comes in rear-wheel drive X1 sDrive28i models or all-wheel drive X1 xDrive28i models. While the six-cylinder only comes in an all-wheel drive, X1 xDrive35i. An eight-speed automatic transmission, automatic stop-start, and brake energy regeneration come standard on all X1s and are part of BMWs EfficentDynamics range of technologies. There is also no availability of a manual transmission for either engine. The intelligent all-wheel-drive varies the distribution on the front and rear wheels effortlessly. This ensures that no matter what type of weather or road conditions the power distribution will enable optimum traction and stability.

The 2013 BMW X1 will be available at your Arizona BMW dealer as early as September 2012.
