Twelve Cylinders of Pure Fury Power Luxury Beast

If you’re looking for a luxury car that provides comfort, sophistication, a status statement and 610 horsepower of pure fury, the M760i xDrive is coming right around the corner. Due to arrive at the Chapman BMW showroom in early 2017, this take on the flagship BMW 7-Series lineup is for people who not only like their cake but prefer devouring it whole. With 590 pound-feet of torque, this luxury sedan rockets from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds on its way to a limited speed of 155 mph. Attention to detail, upscale materials and a sense of style provide all the creature comforts on the inside, while BMW’s idyllic 50/50 weight distribution and superior suspension make sharp corners a thing to be tamed and not feared.

Takes Advantage of Motorsport Technology

BMW has been learning what makes fast cars go faster on the European race circuit for decades. Any car that has the “M” designation receives the benefits of this advanced learning and the M760i xDrive is no exception. By arranging dual mono-scroll turbochargers tightly on the outside of the cylinders, each has the responsibility of providing six pistons with compressed air. This tight, short flow works with intercoolers to reduce the temperature of the incoming air in order to increase the combustible charge. The gas from these constant explosions needs somewhere to go and that’s where the M sport exhaust system kicks in. By producing, in essence, a V12 soundtrack of rumblings that speak to the heart of every race enthusiast, this exhaust system uses rear silencers and a flap activation system to provide a wide acoustic sound that varies from near silence to a throaty roar.

Active Comfort Drive Reduces Vibration

Although power is always a good thing, it can become uncontrollable without a proper suspension system. Active Comfort Drive with Road Preview is part of the solution in the undercarriage of the 2017 M760i xDrive. This active suspension control system works with dual axle air suspension and damper control to reduce vibration levels and provide superior handling. By reducing roll at both axles, the result is a real race car driving feel that works surprisingly well with a cushiony, luxury ride. See how responsive and comfortable it is to drive this new version of the BMW 7-Series when it comes to Chapman BMW early next year.

Compact SUV Runs Away From Competition

When Motor Trend magazine ran a comparison test with some of the auto industry’s most luxurious compact crossovers, no doubt the editors expected a close competition. After all, names like Audi, Infinity, Lexus and Mercedes-Benz are highly-regarded. So when the test was done and the editors wrote, “There’s a good reason why BMW ran away with the win and a 27-point margin in this test. It is the only automaker that has advanced to a second-generation vehicle in this segment. The latest X1 incorporates the lessons that Mercedes and Infiniti are just now starting to learn,” it had to be a bit of a shock to the losers. Now with front-wheel drive, a larger back seat and plenty of headroom, the BMW X1 is the clear choice in the luxury compact crossover category. You can see what’s so special by checking out the BMW X1 inventory at Chapman BMW.

X1 Takes First in Every Category

The Motor Trend comparison broke down into four separate categories: vehicle, powertrain, chassis and experience. The BMW X1 captured first place in every single category, scoring perfect marks for features/amenities, 1/4 mile acceleration, rear seat comfort and fuel economy. In what may be the most important ranking for some people, the X1 scored 21 out of a possible 25 points as the most “fun-to-drive” vehicle in the comparison. Driver comfort, ergonomics, interior styling and ride also scored very high.

Performance and Efficiency Live in Harmony

With the ability to go from 0 to 60 mph in just 6.3 seconds while earning 31 miles per gallon out on the highway, the BMW X1 is a unique animal in the auto world. By pairing 228 horses with an 8-speed Steptronic transmission, the X1 delivers the goods when you need them to pass a truck or get out of a tight jam. Add to that combo an impressive 61.5 cubic feet of cargo space and you have a vehicle that can also haul the goods, whether its the week’s groceries, a couple of sets of golf clubs or a particularly hefty yard sale score.
